Understanding the system

MAA, SIRA and CTP:
what do the names mean?

Older forms may say MAA. Current guidance usually says SIRA. Neither name tells you whether an individual appointment is funded.

Different names, different roles

MAA stands for the former Motor Accidents Authority. SIRA, the State Insurance Regulatory Authority, assumed its regulatory functions on 1 September 2015. CTP means Compulsory Third Party insurance: the cover commonly associated with a vehicle's Green Slip.

The insurer manages the individual claim. A treating psychologist provides assessment and care. These are distinct roles: seeing a psychologist does not itself approve a claim or determine compensation.

Using older paperwork

Bring the documents you already have, even when the language looks dated. Your insurer can clarify which scheme and current requirements apply. Our intake team can help with the practical information needed to arrange a psychology appointment.

Avoid assuming that a historical form, treatment approval or fee quote still applies to a new service. Ask which provider, type of service, period and amount are covered.

Who should I contact?

  • Logic Lounge: practitioner choice, appointment options and what to have ready.
  • Your CTP insurer: claim status, treatment funding and written decisions.
  • SIRA CTP Assist: help understanding the scheme and finding the relevant insurer.
  • A legal adviser: advice about legal rights, disputes or a particular claim.

SIRA CTP Assist can be reached on 1300 656 919.

Find care, not just another form

You can explore the team before making contact. Let us know the client's age, preferred location or language and the support being sought. No detailed accident account is needed just to ask how the appointment process works.
