What is CTP psychology?
CTP psychology is psychological assessment and treatment related to a motor vehicle accident, where care may be funded through a Compulsory Third Party insurance claim. Our role is to provide clinical care, not decide liability or compensation. See how the appointment pathway works.
Do I need an approved claim before contacting you?
No. You can contact our team while you are gathering information or waiting on a decision. Contacting us does not establish insurance cover. Before treatment, we will clarify the appointment arrangements and any costs that could be your responsibility.
Does a CTP claim automatically cover every psychology appointment?
No. Cover depends on the claim and the treatment arrangements. We check the relevant authorisation before insurer-billed treatment. Read about fees, approvals and billing.
Do I need a GP referral or a Mental Health Treatment Plan?
You can contact us directly to discuss CTP care. Please provide any GP referral, clinical information or insurer documents you already have. A Medicare Mental Health Treatment Plan is not the same as CTP treatment authorisation; our team will explain what is needed for your appointment.
Can I see someone for driving anxiety without a PTSD diagnosis?
You do not need to diagnose yourself before asking for support. We can discuss driving or passenger anxiety, distressing memories, sleep difficulties or changes in mood. Assessment helps determine the care that may be appropriate. CTP funding is a separate question.
Will I have to describe the accident in detail straight away?
Your psychologist will explain the assessment and ask about what is affecting you now. Let them know if talking about the accident feels overwhelming. You can ask about the purpose of questions, take a pause and discuss how to approach difficult material.
Can I attend CTP psychology by telehealth?
Telehealth may be an option where it is clinically appropriate and the funding arrangements have been confirmed. Our team will discuss privacy, technology and safety before your first session. Learn about NSW telehealth appointments.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no fixed number that fits every person. Your psychologist will discuss goals and review your progress. Clinical recommendations and insurer-authorised sessions are not necessarily the same; any further treatment request needs the relevant funding arrangements.
Will you bill my insurer directly?
For treatment we have confirmed is authorised for insurer billing, we bill the insurer under the agreed arrangements. We do not promise that every appointment, report or missed session will be covered. Ask us to clarify any fee before proceeding.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Contact our team as soon as you know you cannot attend. The applicable cancellation terms will be explained before booking. Do not assume that your CTP insurer will pay a cancellation or non-attendance charge.
Can you help if I already have a psychologist?
Tell us about your current care and what you are looking to change. We can discuss whether an appointment here is appropriate. With the relevant consent and authority, information from your existing clinician may help avoid unnecessary repetition. Do not assume the insurer will fund overlapping treatment.
Do you see children or teenagers after an accident?
Ask our team about a clinician who works with the young person's age group and concerns. Suitability, consent, parent or guardian involvement and insurer funding need to be considered before booking. Not every practitioner sees every age group.
Are CTP psychologists required to be SIRA-approved?
SIRA states that its approval is not required to deliver treatment in the CTP scheme. This is different from its approval requirements for allied health providers in workers compensation. Relevant professional registration, scope of practice and scheme requirements still apply. Read SIRA's provider guidance.
Is this a compensation assessment or legal service?
No. This website is about treating psychological concerns after an accident. Medico-legal reports, independent assessments and expert evidence are separate services with their own requirements. Tell our team exactly what is requested; treatment booking is not acceptance of a report or legal instruction.
What information is shared with my insurer?
Claim-funded care can involve treatment requests and relevant progress information. Your psychologist will explain confidentiality, the purpose of reports, the relevant consent and legal limits. Ask who will receive information and what it will contain before proceeding.
What should I do if I need urgent support?
This website and our routine booking channels are not crisis services. If there is immediate danger, call 000. For crisis support in Australia, call Lifeline on 13 11 14. For a new or worsening physical injury, seek appropriate medical care.
