CTP psychology fees and funding
We explain the appointment and billing arrangements before you proceed. An insurance claim should not be treated as a blanket promise that every service will be paid for.
Your claim.
Your care.
Clear arrangements.
Where the appointment and agreed fee are covered, billing can go to the CTP insurer. We confirm the arrangement before treatment.
What does that mean for me?
- An open claim is not approval for every appointment.
- The practitioner, service, number of sessions and fee need to fit the confirmed arrangements.
- We explain any client payment before you agree to proceed.
- There is no blanket promise of free or unlimited treatment.
| Service | Fee arrangement | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Initial psychology appointment | Confirmed with intake and insurer | Session duration, practitioner, scope and approval. |
| Ongoing psychology appointment | Within the agreed treatment arrangement | Remaining sessions and whether further authorisation is needed. |
| Reports or case conferences | Quoted or agreed separately | Purpose, scope, consent and payer authorisation. |
SIRA does not set a universal allied-health fee schedule for motor crash claims. CTP and WorkCover fee arrangements are different.
A separate decision.
A clear quote.
Private care may be discussed when CTP funding is not confirmed or when you prefer another arrangement.
Ask before booking
- What is this practitioner's fee and session duration?
- What will I need to pay and when?
- Are any rebates relevant to this particular appointment?
- What happens if CTP funding is later approved?
Do not assume a privately paid appointment will be reimbursed by an insurer. Any rebate eligibility needs separate confirmation.
Not every request
is a therapy session.
Tell us whether you need treatment, a treating report, a clinical assessment, a case conference or another service.
Agree on the scope first
A practitioner's therapy appointment does not automatically include an independent expert opinion, permanent impairment assessment or court report.
We need to confirm whether the requested service is available, who can provide it, the information required, fees and any funding authorisation.
Cancellations
Ask for the applicable CTP cancellation and non-attendance terms before confirming an appointment. Do not assume the insurer will pay a missed-session charge.
Waiting on funding?
You can still ask about care. We will discuss appointment options without treating an enquiry as confirmation of insurance cover.

Start with a conversation.
Tell us what has changed since the accident. We can talk through the appointment options and what to arrange next.
Three things to have in writing.
The service
Confirm the practitioner, appointment duration and whether this is treatment, an assessment or a report.
The payer
Confirm the insurer arrangement and any amount you would personally pay. A claim number alone is not confirmation of coverage.
The terms
Ask about cancellation, non-attendance and charges for additional work. Do not assume the insurer pays every charge.
There is no universal SIRA-set allied-health CTP psychology fee. Rates and services need to be agreed with the insurer. We have not substituted a WorkCover rate or an unapproved historical price.
